New STEM School Applications and Resources

Apply to be a Governor's Designated STEM School

OSIT’s mission is to assist teachers and administrators implement more high-quality STEM education in classrooms throughout the State.  Whether you already consider yourself a STEM school or are just getting started with STEM, we want to be your partner

To begin the conversation, we’ve created the Nevada Governor’s STEM School Action Guide.  This Guide provides a roadmap with guidelines and criteria for Nevada schools to become a Governor Designated STEM School. It aligns with Nevada Academic Content Standards to promote the integration of STEM into daily instruction for all students. You can use this Guide as a self-assessment, as a tool to expand STEM education at your school, or as a blueprint as you prepare to apply for the Governor’s STEM School Designation.

We have two opportunities to share with you.

  1. Governor’s STEM School Designation- The application for the Governor’s STEM School Designation is now open.  All K-12 schools in Nevada are invited to apply.  The application, the STEM School Action Guide and the Nevada STEM Framework can be found on the STEMhub’s STEM School Designation Page.  Applications are due February 19, 2019.  We look forward to seeing your applications and working with you.
  1. STEM Leaders Academy- For those schools that might not be ready to apply for the Governor’s STEM School Designation, we’ve created a Leadership Academy in which school teams will receive STEM professional development, develop a strategic plan, and have the opportunity to submit a grant application to OSIT for up to $20,000 to implement their strategic plan.  Applications are due March 18, 2019.
