The 2019 UNLV Summer Code Camp is a half-day summer program held for 2-weeks from Monday, June 10, 2019 to Friday, June 21st, 2019 for girls who are interested in learning how to code. This program is sponsored by the College of Sciences and the National Supercomputing Institute at UNLV, with funding from the National Science Foundation. The program is intended to introduce coding to girls at an early age, expose them to diverse applications of software in Biology and Science, and support and increase the number of women in computer science related fields.
We are planning on building a visual animated game that will introduce girls to the concept of evolution, while exposing them to hands on software design.
Summer Code Camp at UNLV is a FREE program for 6th-8th grade girls to explore coding in a fun and friendly way!
Code. Play. Game. Create your own video games! Design and program your own video games using code and computer science.
Bring your friends! No previous computer experience is necessary. Have your friends join too — the Summer Code Camp is social and fun!
We will learn coding by building animations, games with sights and sounds.
