Science Saturday: Studying the Stars

Date:
Saturday, March 10, 2018 - 9:30am to 12:30pm
Event Location:
National Automobile Museum, 10 S Lake Street, Reno

Come explore space with Dr. Melodi Rodrigue, an astrophysicist who used the Hubble Space Telescope, and Tony Berendsen, the Star Guide who founded Tahoe Star Tours!

Learn how the women of the Harvard College Observatory helped chart the heavens in a LIVE presentation with Melodi and Tony. (Includes a review of The Glass Universe by NY Times Bestselling Author Dava Sobel.)

Then enter our digital dome to discover how telescopes empower us to reach for the stars — from Galileo to space telescopes of the future.

Next experience hands-on activities, solar telescopes, and space poetry, and come away with souvenirs for your own personal space museum.

Finally, fly with us in the Starship Horizon to survey the wonders of the universe. Experience science, imagination and adventure — firsthand!

Tickets are required for all participants, students, and guardians. Participants under 13 must be accompanied by at least one guardian per six students.
Program activities start at 9:30 a.m. and do not repeat.

Science Saturday is hosted by Challenger Learning Center of Northern Nevada.
